Outreach Program
In January 2001, two Lincoln-West 10th grade students began a long term program in our laboratory in the Rammelkamp Center for Education and Research at MetroHealth. The program is sponsored by Hathway Brown School and the Science Department at Lincoln West High School, located just a few blocks from MetroHealth Center

The students, Rania Issa and Elsie Rodriguez were selected from a larger group of Lincoln West students after extensive interviews with Patricia Hunt of Hathaway Brown and Jennie Hughes, Biology Department Chair at Lincoln West. The two students committed to began research programs that span two and a half years. They spend one afternoon after school each week during the school year and in the summers they work eight weeks on their specific research projects.
They are studying the regulation of secretion of growth factors from endothelial cells.
